Local teams of bass anglers flocked to the Potomac River in Brunswick, MD on Saturday, February 19, 2009, to participate in the 1st Annual St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Bass Fishing Tournament to benefit the children of St. Jude. The tournament which raised $2500 was sponsored by 2 Rivers Guide Service, WFRE 99.9 and Smoketown Bait & Tackle.
As engines roard off leaving behind the waves of not only the desire for the big catch, but the ripples of their philanthropic duty. Shimmering off the fresh serine 38 degree waters, the sun in all it's glory made for a great day. The event was not only filled with water sports, but local radio station WFRE 99.9 and sponsors such as the anglers, City of Brunwick and Staff, Smoketown Bait & Tackle, Cabela's, K&R Engraving, Book Crossing, JTNS Concessions, HBI Roll Offs, World Fishing Network, Brunswick Fire Company, Brunswick Ambulance Service, Dicks Corporate, Bowers Marine, TGI Friday's, Olive Garden, Crazy Horse Steak House, Rob Shaffer, Sam & Tony Donini, A Cut Above Hair Salon, Tim Moore Sr., Tim Moore, Jr., Matt Hoffman, MD DNR, Sam Baker and Tony Lawson gave a helping hand as music and prizes were provided to the anglers, volunteers and all involved.
"This is our first year for this event and are looking for many more to come." "The fishing community and sponsors recognize the work St Jude Children's Hospital does and is eager to support this event every year."
