Susan Courtney's art offers a captivating view of the world through her "Energy in Art" series. She says: "Abstractions allow the creative illusion to be brought forth. This brings a freedom of vision revealing the unity between souls and brings to life an untold story through imagination and wonder.
"An owl views the world differently than a whale. An earthworm has a different sense of existence than a kangaroo. Humans do not see the world in the same way as a fish. That doesn't mean that any of these interpretations of reality is wrong. All of those visions exist, but our responses to those visions is understandably different. It is not our vision that prevents the recognition of unity in the cosmos, but our reaction to it. An artist controls our perception and thus enables a reaction that should include an emotional response.
"Our eyes perceive the visible spectrum of light. Our energy sensors, which we call our eyes are only responsive to a narrow band of vibrations that we interpret as light. The rods and cones in our retinas are responsive to the vibrations between infra red and ultra violet. Because we can not see above or below that visual spectrum of light with our naked eye, does not mean infra red and ultra violet do not exist."
There are dimensions of color bursting forth in beautiful glory awaiting to be seen with the human eye. Reaching for that vision is the perspective in which Susan Courtney utilizes the creative aspect in her art.
