Day Spa to raise money for Homeless Families

Local Spa Donating Proceeds for Families Supported By Foundation

Frederick, MD – Aubrey Rogers and Beth Mackey, owners of City Magnolia Day Spa in Urbana have announced that they will donate all services to benefit The Advocates for Homeless Families on Sunday November 16 from noon to 5 p.m. Proceeds from services will help meet winter and holiday needs for families supported by The Advocates for Homeless Families. The Advocates for Homeless Families is a nonprofit organization that assists families who are working to overcome homelessness.

“The families that Advocates for Homeless Families supports are really trying to overcome their situations. In an economy like this,” said Rogers, “more and more families are finding themselves in a situation where they have lost a home. We at City Magnolia really want to help support the efforts of this organization. We encourage existing and potentially new clients to use our services on November 16th so that we can raise enough money to help make this season less stressful for a deserving family in unfortunate circumstances.”

Co-owner Beth Mackey agrees. “We knew we wanted to support Advocates for Homeless Families because they are a grassroots organization without any funding from larger national organizations. They are helping people right here in Frederick County. People we may know. Sometimes people just need a little help getting back on their feet. Especially when there are children involved.”

City Magnolia Day Spa will continue to raise money throughout the holiday season by selling glass ornaments for amounts attached to designated items from a list provided by Advocates for Homeless Families. These items will include children’s clothing, coats and toiletries among other things. Additionally, the staff of City Magnolia has decided to “adopt” a family for the duration of the holiday season and possibly into next year. “I’m so proud of our staff,” said Rogers, “we are in the business of healing, so I knew we had a team of givers, but they continue to impress me. They recognize the importance of the work that Advocates for Homeless Families is doing. We are all proud to support this cause.”
