Down to Business Celebrates Second Season

     j-ref, a small business financier in Howard County, announces that its television program, Down to Business, is celebrating its second year of production, highlighting the who, what, when, and where of Howard County business.

            Down to Business is a monthly half-hour television program that covers the diversity of concerns, people and issues of the Howard County business community, which debuted in October 2006.  Sponsored by j-ref and The Business Monthly, the program is hosted by j-ref executive director, Michael Mobley.

            Down to Business airs on Comcast Howard County Channel 73, Mondays & Fridays: 12:00, 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.;   Gtv – Comcast Howard County Channel 99/Verizon 44, Tues., 11:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m., and 9:00 p.m., Sat. & Sun. 12:00 p.m.

            Key guests have included Ken Ulman, Howard County Executive; Dick Story, CEO, Howard County Economic Development Authority; Kris Valerio, executive director, Chesapeake Regional Tech Council; Kate Hetherington, president of Howard Community College; Mary Ann Scully, chairman, president and CEO of Howard Bank; Rick Morgan, president of CommerceFirst Bank; and, Pam Klahr, president of Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce.

 

            Headquartered in the Center for Business & Technology Development in Columbia, Maryland, j-ref is a private, not-for-profit funding source for Howard County start-up and emerging companies. Support for the j-ref program (http://www.jref.org) is available through partnerships with Howard County government, Howard County Economic Development Authority, Howard County Chamber of Commerce, Baltimore Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce, Howard Community College, local financial institutions, and the local business community.  In addition to offering business loans up to $250,000, j-ref works through its strategic partners to offer assistance to small and emerging companies in the areas of business advice, planning, and education.
