The importance of the pieces and their utilitarian value will also be examined. Pieces crafted in various media such as glass and silver, dating from 1812 through 1932 are inclluded in the collection. Also included are paintings displaying how artists used decorative art objects as subjects in still lifes and other compositions. This exhibit will be on display through July 2013. Anyone from ages 1 to 100 can participate in this fun and meaningful event. On-line registration is now open. Participants commit to read by themselves for a specified amount of time or a specified number of books during the period. In advance, they will request pledges from friends and family to sponsor their reading. The more you read the more money you will raise! Every dollar raised will be used to buy books and other program materials for the students and tutors of the Council. At the final celebration on February 11th, we will be providing drinks and snacks to participants throughout the day. We will also have prizes donated to the event by local merchants to be awarded in multiple categories. KEYOTE from the Frederick Keys will appear during the afternoon. She recently starred as Velma in the Broadway production of “Chicago” for which she won a Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, and Astaire Award. She also received a Tony Award for her role as Nickie in “Sweet Charity “. Her other Broadway credits include “Fosse”, “Damn Yankees”, “Dancin”, “Little Me”, and “A Chorus Line”. In addition, she has performed leading roles in numerous Regional theater productions including “West Side Story” for the Cleveland Opera, the title role in “Kiss of the Spiderwoman” on London’s West End, “The Three Penny Opera” at A.C.T., and Katherine in “The Taming of the Shrew” at Williamstown Theater Festival. This past summer’04, she completed a successful run of “Here Lies Jenny” at the Zipper Theater in New York. Comprised of music by Kurt Weill, the show was created by Leslie Stifelman, Roger Rees, Ann Reinking, and Ms. Neuwirth. Ms. Neuwirth work in film includes “Liberty Heights”. “Summer of Sam”, “Celebrity”, “Jumanji”, “Green Card”, “The Paint Job”, “Bugsy” and “Tadpole” among others. On Television she is well known for her role of Lilith Sternin on “Cheers”, for which she won two Emmy Awards. Other television appearances include her Emmy nominated portrayal of Dorothy Parker in “Dash and Lily” and guest work on “Star Trek, the Next Generation”, and “Hack”. Last season she played in a series for NBC called “Law and Order-Trial by Jury”. Ms. Neuwirth is proud to be an Honorary Zeigfeld Girl.
