The Buddy Project: Cake Auction
Date: 11/14/2009
Time: 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm
Location: 2107 Chestnut Lane Frederick, MD 21702 (View Map)

Description: THE BUDDY PROJECT HOSTS CAKE AUCTION FOR CHARITY All Proceeds Go Towards Helping People with Disabilities Gain Access to Technology (Frederick, MD)-October 02, 2008- In a world where ubiquitous computing and technology has become a staple in daily American personal and business life, it is lamentable that people with disabilities are being left out. The Buddy Project, a non-profit organization serving the Frederick, MD community, will be hosting a cake auction on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 to raise money to purchase refurbished computers to give to people with disabilities. The Buddy Project aims to provide access to intellectually, developmentally, and physically challenged individuals who are oftentimes intimidated by the use of technology or have no access to it. Thus, they have been missing out on a world on information, social interaction, and entertainment. With sponsors like Calmoseptine Ointment and Home Interiors, it is evident that the community cares about and believes in this noble cause. On Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, Eric Zimmerman, the organizations founder, will be opening his home for a cake auction to raise money for the cause. From 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., participants will enjoy cake testing, dinner, and the cake auction. At 9:00 p.m., the Buddy Project will present The Michele McTierney Band to perform live, winners of several local open-mic contests and runner-up in the 2007 Song of the Year contest in Baltimore, MD. Zimmerman is expecting a great turnout for the cake auction that will allow The Buddy Project to purchase more refurbished computers to give away to people with disabilities. Its about giving them equal access to the technology so that they can have more independence in their daily lives, says Zimmerman about the organizations goal. The Buddy Project was founded in Oct. 2007 to provide people with special needs access to computers and technology at no cost to them to increase their independence. ### If you are interested in more information about the Buddy Project or the cake auction, please contact Eric Zimmerman at ericzimmerman@thebuddyproject.net or check them out at www.thebudyproject.net.
