Participants must attend all three sessions to receive a Certificate
Respite Connection of Washington County is offering a free training program for adults interested in learning how to provide respite care - babysitting - for children who have disabilities and/or mental health issues. Trained respite care providers can earn $2-3 more per hour than the typical babysitter ($8 to $15 per hour). Respite care is temporary care in the child's home that allows the family to take a break. (must have 10 pre-registered or class is subject to cancellation)
Training topics include:
DISABILITY AWARENESS SAFETY BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT
THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CARE PROVIDER POSITIONING
OVERVIEW OF COMMON DISABILITIES ASSISTIVE EQUIPMENT
HOW TO SPEND TIME WITH THE CHILD AND MORE!
Funding provided by a grant from the Washington County Local Management Board.
