Description: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CONTACT: Amy Norton Francie’s Family 5K http://www.franciesfamily5k.com/ Francie’s Family 5K Run/Walk 2011 Middletown, Maryland – The date has been set! Come runners, come walkers, come all! Put on your sneakers and get ready for a wonderful day, because March 19, 2011 will mark the 2nd Annual Francie’s Family 5K Run/Walk. On April 18th, 2009, the Middletown community lost the Billotti-Wood family to an unimaginable tragedy. Francie Billotti-Wood, a mother, avid volunteer, and lover of her Middletown Valley family, made a huge impact on her immediate friends and family, as well as on the many organizations of which she so proudly contributed. Throughout our grieving process, two things remained clear; Francie made a tremendous impact on the people who knew her, and she was a positive person who deserved to be remembered for the way she lived, not the way she died. In that vein, we are expanding this years race to honor the memory of all people lost to tragedy in the valley in the past year. Our community is a family, and we hope for this event to be a unifying and loving way to positively remember and honor our lost family members. We have scheduled this year’s event for 9:00 am March 19, 2011, and will begin and end in the County Park in Middletown, located behind the high school. Registration online has begun. The first 500 entrants will be guaranteed race day t-shirts, and the first 1000 entrants will receive race day packets in reusable bags. Race day registration will be cash only. There will be a kid’s run, information fair, awards, DJ and much more. The primary goal of Francie's Family 5K is not to raise money; it is to come together as a community and remember Francie and her family, as well as other loved ones lost to tragedy. The success of last years run allowed us to further positively affect the community by purchasing 4 new pieces of playground equipment for the Middletown Memorial Park. Proceeds from this year’s race will be used for the continued support and benefit of the people of the Middletown Valley. For more information on the race, registration, or how to include your lost loved one in a race day remembrance please visit our website at http://www.franciesfamily5k.com/ We’re also accepting race day volunteers and race day donations.
