2016 IN THE STREET FESTIVAL SPONSORED BY DARCARS TOYOTA OF FREDERICK HIGHLIGHTS OVER 19 LOCAL AND REGIONAL MUSICAL ACTS ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH

Celebrate Frederick, Inc. is proud to announce the entertainment line-up for the annual In the Street Festival sponsored by DARCARS Toyota of Frederick on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Downtown Frederick, Maryland. Entertainment kicks off at 11 a.m. and continues through the evening with the KEY 103 Up the Creek Party presented by Flying Dog featuring the popular high-energy dance music from 3AM Tokyo. This year’s event includes a diverse array of performers on four stages that will have audiences of all ages dancing In the Street!

CARROLL CREEK AMPHITHEATRE

NOON to 1 PM – Cheshi (Indie Rock)

Founded in 2015, Cheshi aims to inspire and motivate their audience to gain a deeper understanding of the individual “self” in connection with the world. Cheshi sings about the trials and tribulations of life and the realistic darkness that exists in the world we live in. Through Cheshi’s music, controversial ideas are brought to light to provoke change within oneself. Ashli Cheshire (vocals/rhythm guitar), Trevor Williams (lead guitar/vocals), Matt Jachowski (bass) and Evan Braswell (drums) create the dark indie rock sounds of Cheshi constructing music for the tender at heart.

1:30 to 2:45 PM – Heavy Lights (Indie)

Originating in Frederick County, Heavy Lights delivers an indie-pop rock sound that has been influenced by 90s rock. Their music, based around bass and drums, is sure to entertain and get you nodding along to their playful songs!

3:15 to 4:30 PM – Guys In Thin Ties (80s)

Guys in Thin Ties is an alternative 80s rock cover band driven to entertain the audience with some of the best songs from the MTV Music Videos era. Come out with Bill (bass and vocals), Mark (guitars and vocals), Dave (drums), Jim (keys, guitars and vocals) and John (vocals) to get your 80s on!

5 to 6:15 PM –The Ted Garber Band (Blues Americana)

Ted Garber, a genre-bending multi-instrumentalist, introduces a new golden age of live entertainment called “BluesAmericanaRock,” which combines classic showmanship with a captivating singer-songwriter sensibility. His smokey, bluesy vocals, howling harmonica riffs and screaming guitar licks take audience members on a diverse musical journey from the Big Apple to the Big Easy, hovering in the Mississippi Delta before heading South of the Border.

7 to 9 PM – 3AM Tokyo (Dance)

3 AM is a high energy mix of electronic dance, pop, dubstep, and rock that keeps their audiences dancing all night. Grammy nominated singer/songwriter/producer; “Picasso” is joined by band mates Jack Kolber (keys, guitar and vocals), Jeff Lindsay (bass, keys and vocals) and Kaleef Hills (drums) to create an incomparable sound!

11:30 to 12:30 PM – Jessie Chris

Chris at 18 years old was the youngest performer at the CMA Festival and has opened for iconic artist to include Luke Bryan, Chris Young, John Rich and Billy Ray Cyrus and has performed at The Country Music Hall of Fame.  Just last month she was selected to perform at the William Morris Speakeasy Showcase in Nashville. Growing up Jessie was the victim of extreme bullying and music was always her way of coping with life’s experiences. Besides singing and songwriting, Jessie plays the guitar, piano and dabbles with the banjo.

1:15 to 2:30 PM – SaraBeth

Earning fans one show at a time, landing considerable regional media exposure, scoring two nationally charted singles, developing a base in her native Texas, expanding it nationally and even internationally with a successful U.K. tour in 2014, SaraBeth 
has made astounding strides in a very short time. Her fun lyrics and down-to-earth personality will make her a crowd favorite that you won’t want to miss! 

3:15 to 4:45 PM – Olivia Lane

If there’s one thing that stands out about Olivia Lane, it’s her pure, unbridled energy. It’s reflected in her big, dynamic voice; in her performance, which bursts with passion and levity; and by her simple presence, which can dissolve you in laughter and make you grin from ear to ear. Not every day does an artist come around able to so effortlessly meld a freewheeling spirit with poignant, inspirational songs and an irrepressible drive, but Lane’s one of them. Lane’s sound is a combination of country elements – mandolin, banjo, lyrics sweetly laced with Texas twang – with a pop energy and locomotive rhythms that capture her every-moving spirit.

11 AM to NOON – 8 Ohms Band (Funk)

Up and coming band, the 8 Ohms Band plays horn heavy funk/soul with a blend of R&B and Go-Go music throughout Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, Washington, DC, and West Virginia. Their debut album "Superheavy” has sold and received radio play in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, and the United States.

12:30 to 1:30 PM – 9 Miles Roots (Roots/Reggae)

Based out of the Baltimore/DC metro area, 9 Miles Roots is a suburban roots-reggae band featuring a talented group of musicians from diverse music backgrounds. 9 Miles Roots delivers creative music with a strong reggae vibe, bouncy hip-hop flow and a rock edge. The upbeat sounds and impressive stage presence of 9 Miles Roots will incite a dance party In the Streets style.

2 to 3 pm – Silent Old Mountains (Indie Rock)

Founded by singer songwriter Andrew Bromhal in the spring of 2011, Silent Old Mountains began when a single concert snowballed into the formation of the full time regional act they are today. Silent Old Mountains blends indie rock, folk and poetry to create a unique style all their own, which has earned the band a quick and loyal following. They are most renowned for their energetic and theatrical live shows, promotion of the indie rock scene and DIY:ethic, tours in a repurposed school bus and average of over 100 live shows per year without a corporate sponsor.

3:30 to 5 PM – Ghost Pepper (Party Rock)

Ghost Pepper is a high-energy cover rock band from Frederick, MD. With influences from classic 70s rock, 80s glam, and hits from the 90s to today, the band has a particular own sound that they describe as a modern update on some of your favorite artists. They often play extended dance medleys without a break, blending hit songs into more hit songs, keeping the audience guessing, the energy level high and the dance floor full.

11AM to NOON – Market Street Big Band (Swing)

Comprising some of the Baltimore/Washington DC area’s top musicians, The Market Street Big Band can enhance any occasion with music reminiscent of the traditional sound of the famous Big Band era featuring jazz, swing and Latin tunes.

12:30 to 1:30 PM – The VooDoo Blues (New Orleans Funk)

The Voodoo Blues is a quartet consisting of Ryan Benton (piano, Dave Clements (bass), Travis Driver (drums), and Scott Pardue (harmonica). The band plays funk and blues influenced by Southern Rock and love to give their audiences a “hand-clappin’” good time!

2 to 3 PM – Katie Powderly & The Unconditional Lovers (Americana)

Katie Powderly is a confident singer, songwriter who isn’t afraid of telling the truth! Her back up band, The Unconditional Lovers, is made up of Kevin Etzler, Colin Shultzaberger, Neil Durr, Mike Brock and Evan Durr. Together they create a fringe folk sound that audiences adore!

3:30 to 5 PM – Higher Hands (Funk/Soul)

Higher Hands has a funk sound that combines fusion, hip-hop, afrobeat, and DC Go Go music. The band has established itself throughout the DMV for having a tight set. These guys love to have fun on stage and get crowds nodding along!

Noon to 1:10 PM – AS IF (90s Tribute)

AS IF is a 90s tribute band from Baltimore, MD that was nominated for Best Cover Act by the Maryland Music Awards in 2016. Their fun, goofy energy on stage and audience interaction makes them a crowd favorite anytime they perform. Come and throwback to the best decade with AS IF!

1:40 to 3 PM – Donegal X-Press (Irish Rock)

Donegal X-Press blends the sounds of traditional Irish music with American country and blues, folk and rock, rhythm and funk. Their high-energy songs and attitudes easily make them a fan favorite. With a mix of original songs and covers, their music is loved by audiences all around!

3:30 to 5 PM - Dapp (Jam Funk)

Dapp is an incredibly complex multicellular organism made up of really tiny particles.  As the singer, songwriter, bassist and front man for his four piece "frunk" band, Dapp has built a reputation for the spontaneous and improvisational style of his songs and performances. Pocket grooves mixed with freestyle jam sessions are brought together by tight arrangements making Dapp a crowd favorite wherever he goes.
