Event Details Jewelry Show - Jason McLeod Date: 8/1/2009 Time: 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Location: McGuire Fine Arts Gallery, 110 N. Market ST., Frederick, MD 21701 (View Map) Description: A collection of work by studio jewelry artist Jason McLeod will be featured at the McGuire Fine Arts Gallery in Frederick, Maryland for the month of August 2009. Meet the artist at the opening reception on Saturday, August 1st from 6 to 9 pm. On display and for sale will be a number of one-of-a-kind pieces, including several from his signature Time Traveler Series, a collection receiving significant attention in the world of art jewelry. These works are currently on exhibit at the Aaron Faber Gallery in New York City and has been creating great international celebration. McLeod was invited to take part in Contemporary Silversmithing: New Works in Studio Silver, a show celebrating the ancient craft with about 100 works by thirty-four artists from around the world. The 5th Avenue Manhattan gallery has been central to the contemporary art jewelry movement for more than three decades. The Time Traveler designs bare highly polished surfaces with patterns evoking star-charts, maps, circuits, formulas, and code; they might include important dates, names, and lists of addresses lived by a person over a lifetime. The resulting look suggests ideas about multiple universes and the fabric of space-time permanently fixed in the metal, McLeod says, further suggesting that, the impossible may actually be possible. McLeod works with gold, silver, gemstones, and other natural materials. His life long experience as an artist includes drawing, painting, bronze casting, kinetic sculpture, and music club and poster art design. He began making jewelry in Oakland, California, and is now based in Charlottesville, Virginia. We strongly encourage interviews with Jason, so please call ahead and we will be happy to schedule one for you. McGuire Fine Arts is located at 110 North Market Street, Frederick, Maryland.
