The Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association is sponsoring it's annual Little Miss, Jr. Miss & Miss Frederick County Fire Prevention Contest to be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department at 6pm.
Each Contestant must be single, have no children or be pregnant and be a resident of Frederick County.
Age requirements: Miss: 16-24
Jr. Miss: 11-15
Little Miss: 8-10
Each queen will receive a crown, banner, trophy and flowers. Each runner-up will recieve a trophy and flowers. Every contestant will recieve a trophy.
Judging will be based on poise, appearance, knowledge of fire prevention and speaking ability and form. Little Miss contestants will need to make a poster/drawing of anything fire prevention related. Jr. Miss & Miss contestants will each conduct a 5 minute fire prevention presentation during the interview with the judges. Following the interview, each contestant will pick at random, a fire prevention question and answer it on stage to the best of their ability.
All three queens will be expected to help promote fire prevention throughout Frederick County. They must be willing and able to attend any fire department function such as banquets, parades, open houses, meetings, etc. The winner in the "Miss" category will go on to compete at the Maryland State Firemen's Association's annual Convention in Ocean City, MD in June 2011.
You do not have to belong to a fire department to participate in this contest. There is no entry fee for this contest. Applications can be obtained on the Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association's website at www.fcvfra.com. Application deadline is September 30, 2010.
