Dr. Julian Choe and Mark Zimmerman will be moving to the Dominican Republic in January to live full time to continue helping the children in remote villages by providing medical treatment. They started an organization called Mission Ryan (named after the movie Saving Private Ryan). Mission Ryan's vision and goal are to alleviate the misery of the plantation workers and their children by providing proper sanitation methods, potable drinking water, delivery of primary care and medical services for the children and adults. The final goal is to build mini-clinics in each of the targeted 25 villages to provide long term health care.
Franki Trout, ‘Miss Frederick 2009’, in conjunction with the Linganore High Student Service Learning program will be supporting Mission Ryan by hosting a benefit at Linganore High School (current Oakdale location) in New Market. There will be a silent auction starting at 6 and the performance at 7. The performance Moving Mountains will showcase a variety of local talent including local choirs, instrumentalists and visual and performing artists.
The cost is $10.00 per person and tickets can be purchased at the door or by contacting Franki Trout at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mission Ryan is a 501(c)3 tax-deductible non-profit organization
