The Permanent Vehicle Project takes a look at this prospect.
It seems many vehicles these days are exceptionally reliable and can run for several 100,000 miles without any major failures. So, which vehilces are the longest lasting and what maintenance is recommended to make them last as long as possible? In the Permanent Vehicle Project we will try to answer these questions with specific examples. Please click through to our YouTube channel and share your tips and suggestions as well.
So far in the project are the following vehicles: 1) 1994 Toyota Pickup with the famous 22re engine; 2) 2004 Toyota Prius (made in Japan); 3) 2006 Honda CRV (bought new to pull behind motorhome). 4) 1977 Blue Bird Wanderlodge FC31 with CAT 3208 Turbo Diesel. To date none of these vehicles have needed any major repairs due to failure. We run Mobile 1 oil or other high quality full synthetic oils in all vehicles and we keep all fluides clean.
