August 15, 2008, Thurmont, MD. WTHU’s immediate success in the Arbitron ratings (11th out of 29 radio stations), with original shows, expanding commercials, churches and services requesting their Public Service Announcements, along with the live remotes at Maranatha’s Family Day, Taneytown’s Christian Music Festival, Thurmont’s Carnival/Parade are all evidence that WTHU 1450am is an integral part of the many communities making up the landscape. Even town commissioners are calling to request last minute announcements about their Sunday concert. So many more are listening on the air and through the Internet.
Did you know that since June 9th the music library has been expanded by thousands of choices, upgrades to computers and systems have been accomplished, daily shows – “Messianic Minutes,” “Truth for Life,” “The American View,” a daily call-in show - “Energy Matters,” along with traffic, weather and Christian music in “Rise & Shine Morning Drive” and “The Road Show,” there’s “Keys for Kids” and “Adventures in Odyssey” have all been added.
How about Friday’s “PGIF” with live in-studio concerts and easy conversation? Or the teen’s call-in show “Crosswalk” on Saturday evenings? Sunday’s “In Memory Of” show requesting songs on behalf of friends/family–phones are clogged before the show starts. What about the new Sunday shows with “Sounds of Southern Gospel,” “Precious Memories,” the great choral music of “Psalm 95,” “Life Talk” with Bishop Ed Ambush’s interviews?
WTHU has been operating at 500 watts, engineering studies have shown that it can expand to 1000 watts without bumping up against other signals. This can only be accomplished with your help. Never before in our community’s history has the need been greater.
