Music
Often called the universal language, music is enjoyed by every human culture. Researchers and educators agree that music education for children helps develop character and leadership skills. And it's fun! Our Music program focuses on children ages six and above and offers private 30, 45 and 60 minute lessons.
Kindermusik®
Kindermusik® is the world-renowned music and movement program for children from newborn to age seven. Each of the classes in the Kindermusik® curriculum at the Mount Airy Performing Arts Center is developmentally appropriate for a specific age group and fosters the love of music and movement while stimulating areas of a child's development - cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical.
Dance
In addition to the physical benefits of enhanced balance, posture and coordination, dance can help stimulate learning by improving self-confidence and understanting, nuturing friendships and cultivating an appreciation for beauty and form.
The Mount Airy Performing Arts Center offers a wide variety of classes for children as young as three to adults. Classes range from basic movement for preschoolers to structured instruction in classical ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip-hop and folk for older students.
Pilates
It's all about balance and control. This popular exercise method utilizes non-impact physical movement to improve strength, flexibility, posture, and coordination. The Mount Airy Performing Arts Center is pleased to offer Pilates classes as a safe and convenient way to achieve physical conditioning and improve emotional well being.
Art
Throughout time, man has derived pleasure from creating and viewing art. Art has been used to convey beauty, document historical events, and express the full range of human emotions. Art knows no cultural barriers. As a way of promoting the many benefits of art, the Mount Airy Performing Arts Center is now offering an art curriculum with age-appropriate classes.
Theatre
The beauty and appeal of theatre has much to do with its blending of numerous art forms, including visual art, music, literature, and performance. Our Theatre program consists of classes for boys and girls from kindergarten through adult. Each class teaches individual acting skills that allow students to express creativity and imagination. From basic work with puppets and pantomime to the development of acting techniques, scene work, and improvisation, theatre offers something to awaken everyone.
